Swizz Beatz has dropped a major hint at the comeback of Verzuz in an all‑new format. The iconic Hip Hop battle series, which first took off on Instagram in 2020 thanks to the creative collaboration between Swizz and fellow legend Timbaland, hasn’t aired any new episodes for over three years following a stalled partnership with Triller.
In a recent conversation with Something About Rocks, Swizz made it crystal clear that the beloved series is staging a return. “It’s been a lot of work, a long process to build something and rebuild it again,” he shared.
He continued, “The easiest thing would have been to leave it as is. When we started, those were the early days. Now, we own the show one hundred percent again—and we know what to do differently. While most people might have given up, Timbaland and I thought, ‘let’s keep it going, no matter what people think.’”
Swizz added, “At the end of the day, it’s easy for everyone to sit on the sidelines and throw in the towel—but it takes true warriors to keep fighting and prove that it’s never too late, no matter the odds.”
What to Expect from the Revamped Format
He also revealed plans to adjust the battles when Verzuz returns: “[The new iteration of the show will] not be too different. We don’t want to stray far from the essence. We intend to deliver something amazing—and also put new talent in the spotlight.”
Previously, the super producer hinted that Verzuz would make its return on X, following a new deal inked by him and Timbaland with the social media platform. In an official announcement, he said,
