Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop in Detroit on Sunday night took an unexpected turn when a devoted fan fainted on stage.

During her signature moment in the show—inviting a few lucky fans to join her for a performance of her 2011 hit “The One That Got Away”—Perry welcomed a young girl named McKenna onto the stage. McKenna had caught the pop star’s attention from the very top corner of Little Caesars Arena, thanks to her sparkling blue sequined skirt. Perry even paused the show so McKenna and her friend could make their way down to the stage, warmly embracing both when they arrived.

But as the excitement reached its peak, McKenna suddenly collapsed. The incident left Perry visibly concerned as crew members and venue medical staff rushed in to help. The audience of nearly 13,000 erupted into supportive chants of McKenna’s name while Perry knelt by her side.

“It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave, and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling,” Perry reassured the crowd as McKenna received care.

Once the situation was under control, Perry continued with the performance of “The One That Got Away” and guided the other fans back offstage. Later in the evening, while soaring over the audience on a giant butterfly prop, she gave an uplifting update: “McKenna’s doing great, by the way.” Backstage sources later confirmed the fan was indeed fine. Perry even called out McKenna’s name again at the end of the song, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Sunday’s show marked the 13th stop on the North American leg of the Lifetimes Tour, which began in late April in Mexico City. The tour continues in Toronto on August 5–6 before running through December 7, when it concludes in Abu Dhabi.
